To change the settings for users who are active, the change must be through the HKCU \ Software \ Classes (HKCR not). To change the default settings should be through the HKLM \ Software \ Classes. If you write a key under HKCR, the system will store this information in the HKLM \ Software \ Classes. If you write a value from a key under HKCR, and the key already exists under HKCU \ Software \ Classes, the system will store this information here (than in the HKLM \ Software \ Classes).

Contains information about the hardware profile used by the local computer at the start. Abbreviations: HKCC.
